Bicks Listens | Bat For Lashes - The Bride

So on 1st July Bat For Lashes new album was released and it did not disappoint. It's Natasha Khan's fourth album and for the first time she has created a concept album. Being a fan of hers since her first album, 'Fur And Gold' (2006), her new release was very highly anticipated.

Bicks listens: The Japanese House

I discovered The Japanese House on Spotify when checking out a different band recommended to me by a friend. 19 year old, Amber Bain, AKA The Japanese House hails from London, UK. She released her debut EP 'Pools To Bathe In' in April 2015 and her latest 'Clean' came out in September of the same year.

Bicks Listens | Podcasts

Years ago when I was a teenager and still in school (gosh that was so long ago) I used to listen to podcasts all the time, most of which were recommended by my dad. But somewhere along the line I lost interest, became too busy and forgot all about the world of podcasts. Recently however, I've been wanting stuff to listen to when on my way to university. Music is brilliant, but sometimes I'm not feeling it, so I've been searching the web for decent podcasts to get me through my little commute (I say commute. I live in the same city as my uni, but it still takes me an hour to get there).

I thought today that I would share a few that have caught my attention and tell you my thoughts.

Bicks listens: Wolf Alice

This is a band that I've heard a lot about previously, but never gotten around to listening to. That is until last week. My friend Chels recommended them to me and now I cannot stop listening. The London four piece has been making music since 2010 (although the first couple of years they were a duo) and after several EPs, they have finally released their long awaited debut album, My Love Is Cool.

The second track on the album, Bros, is a brilliant song. I love it even more because of the fact that Chels said it reminded her of me and she's right it's definitely our song (we're cheesy ok? Deal.) Another song that I'm really diggin' is You're a Germ, it's by far my favourite next to Bros.
Wolf Alice are touring across the globe from July all through until late November, including multiple festivals. You can check them out on spotify, youtube or itunes.

Bicks listens: The Franklys

The idea of 'Bicks listens' is that I'll be sharing music that I've really enjoyed or that I think deserves some recognition. It may be an album, gig review, or band that I choose to tell you about. This is something I'm hoping to post regularly (probably every other week). Now I listen to a mixture of genres and artists so you might not like everything I post, but hopefully there'll be something your ears take a fancy to!

Today I'd like to shine a light on a band that I've been following online for a couple of years, The Franklys. They describe themselves as an all-girl garage rock n roll band, They haven't released an awful lot of music but these four ladies are fantastic at what they do. The first time I stumbled upon this band I ordered their EP straight away! They've literally just released the official video for the latest single "Bad News" a couple of days ago, which has reminded me why I loved them so much when I first discovered them!

The band will be touring the country throughout England and I believe will be making an appearance at several festivals too! If you feel like The Franklys are up your alley, definitely go and check out their Youtube channel for more music and official site for tour dates. A couple of my personal favourites are "Weasel" from their 2013 self titled EP, and the single "What you said" which was released last year.
